Scope of Activities
Class Acts Arts brings a broad range of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions directly into the community to strengthen education, stimulate creative self-expression and inspire a global world view.
We provide exceptional, innovative, and affordable arts programs that enable PTAs and community groups, foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals to experience the transformative power of the arts. Our programs are customized to inspire, achieve educational outcomes, and foster the creativity and social development of the audiences we serve, including underserved populations.
Arts Education in Schools and Communities
Innovative and affordable performances, workshops and residencies for schools, communities and organizations throughout Maryland, Washington, DC and northern Virginia. Class Acts Arts programs bring master artists/teachers into local communities with interactive programs that meet curriculum standards through the arts and provide unique opportunities for cross-cultural learning.
Serving the Underserved
Project Youth ArtReach (PYA) provides culturally diverse arts programs and artist residencies in the visual, literary and performing arts with youth in Maryland detention and correctional facilities and mentoring programs for court-involved youth. Through Arts for All, Class Acts Arts provides arts programming to seniors and those with special needs in centers serving individuals with developmental disabilities, hospitals, nursing homes, and residential care facilities. Star Catcher gives every child the opportunity to reach for the stars by providing arts programming to children in low-income communities.
Career Support Services for Artists
Class Acts Arts provides over 125 artists with meaningful employment, while promoting their careers and occasionally acting as a fiscal sponsor for artistic projects. Additionally, twice per year PYA provides trainings to artists, with guest speakers on topics such as juvenile justice and positive youth development.
